The Granger List

It’s here!

image332

UPDATED May 8, 2020

Goodwin Granger began making rods in Denver, Colorado shortly after World War I. Several grades and models were produced until about 1942 when production was suspended for the Second World War. During the 1920s and 1930s, Granger fly rods acquired a deserved reputation for excellent casting characteristics, durability and the ability to handle almost any fishing situation.

After 1946, Wright & McGill leased and then acquired the Goodwin Granger rod-building operation and produced rods under the Granger name until the mid-1950s.

Knowledgable fishermen know that Granger rods are just as fishable today as they ever were. We've been collecting, fishing and evaluating Granger rods for over 45 years. Scott W. has even built and restored a few. If you're looking to acquire a genuine Granger -- from either the Goodwin Granger or Wright & McGill eras -- to fish or collect, please visit this page often and/or let us know exactly what you're looking for.

The fly rods offered will all be scarce, unique or very special.

Some items have additional photos. Click the photo in each listing for more images if available. You can always request additional photos when you begin communicating with us.

9’0” Goodwin Granger Aristocrat (GA9053); 3/2; 5 3/4 oz.

9'0" Goodwin Granger Aristocrat, GA9053, 3/2, 5 3/4 oz., wrapped tan tipped brown. Varnish, grip and hardware are all in EX++ or better original condition, circa 1940. The swell at the heel of the grip may have been slightly reduced by a previous owner and there is a tiny dent on the lower reel seat pocket. Original olive drab twill bag and beige labeled tube. Nice patina and color. Fished very little; near collector quality. Great classic large trout, bass or light salmon rod. For 7/8 wt. lines.

9’6" Wright & McGill Granger Stream & Lake (SL9660); 3/2; 6 oz.

9'6" Wright & McGill Granger Stream & Lake, SL9660, 3/2, 6 oz., wrapped red. All original and in Near Mint condition. Original bag and tube are also EX++, the bag is an unusual grey color with tan stitching and the labeled fiber tube is extraordinarily fine. I would bet this rod has been fished only once since the second tip top shows no guide wear at all. Up lock n/s reel seat. For 7/8 wt. lines.
